Bihar politics: After JD (U) betrayal, BJP sets target of 35 seats for 2024 Lok Sabha polls in state

Kolkata: New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held its core committee meeting at the party headquarters here on Tuesday and set a target of winning 35 seats in Bihar in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party national president JP Nadda. Notably, the party is making fresh plans for Bihar in the wake of the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United)'s split with the National Democratic Alliance.

Chaired by JP Nadda, the meeting gave clear instructions to its leaders in the state to strengthen the party's base across Bihar, while also going among the people and exposing the "fraudulent" alliance that won over 35 seats in Bihar. In 2024 Lok Sabha elections, sources report. Bihar BJP state president Sanjay Jaiswal, BL Santosh, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Sahnwaj Hussain, Mangal Pandey, Janak Ram, Nanda Kishore Yadav and several other leaders were present.

After the meeting, Jaiswal told reporters, "The Mahagathan in Bihar is an alliance to cheat the people. The BJP will fight it from the streets to the state assembly. The party has set a target of winning 35 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections."

"Bihar core committee meeting was held today in the presence of President JP Nadda ji and Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji. A very thorough and detailed discussion took place on all issues. It is well known that this alliance betrays the people. And it is a backdoor alliance that Lalu Raj Trying to re-establish," he said, adding that the BJP would set a record by winning more than 35 seats in Bihar in the 2024 general elections.

Bihar has 40 Lok Sabha seats out of which 17 are currently held by the BJP and 16 by the JD(U). Lok Janashakti Party has six seats and Congress has one seat.
