PM Modi talks to 'friend' Macron, conveys India's solidarity with France in dealing with wildfires





New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (August 16, 2022) had a telephonic conversation with President Emmanuel Macron and expressed India's solidarity with France in combating the ongoing drought and wildfires.

"Talked to my friend President Emmanuel Macron today. Expressed India's solidarity with France in dealing with devastating fires," PM Modi tweeted.

According to Prime Minister Modi's office, the two leaders also reviewed ongoing bilateral initiatives, including defense cooperation projects and cooperation in civilian nuclear energy.

"They also discussed important geopolitical challenges related to global food security," the PMO said in a statement.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the depth and strength that the India-France strategic partnership has gained in recent years and agreed to continue working together to expand ties into new areas of cooperation, Modi's office added.

Modi and Macron last interacted on Twitter on August 15, India's 76th Independence Day.
