Magnitude 6.0 earthquake hits Hokkaido hours after 5.9 quake injures over 40 near Tokyo

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the Hokkaido earthquake occurred at 10:45 pm local time at a depth of 40 kilometres. The quake registered a seismic intensity of 4 on Japan’s seven-point scale. No tsunami warning was issued.
